The XV 1100 Virago was Yamaha's air-cooled, shaft-driven 75-degree V-twin cruiser, the largest of the Virago line, grown from the earlier 920 cc engine. This 1989-92 version has dual rear shocks, a pressed-steel backbone frame and twin front discs. Period testers liked its light steering, torque and brakes, but noted stiff rear shocks and a seat that tires on long rides.
